Ministry of Culture was established with Decree No. 354, dated
24.01.1989. Its organisational structure and mandate were
revised by Statutory Decrees No. 364 dated 17.03.1989, No.
379 dated 13.09.1989 and No. 468 dated 13.12.1991.
According to the above mentioned Statutory Decrees, the
main mandate of the Ministry of Culture is to research,
develop, protect, sustain, enhance, disseminate, and promote
the historical, cultural and moral assets of the nation,
and thus contribute to maintaining national unity.
